KLAROL is a new concept in oil cleaning. It has been designed keeping in mind the limitations of the normal full flow and by pass oil filters. Its ability to remove solid contaminants down to one micron and liquid contaminants, like lighter fractions of un-burnt fuel and water from the engine oil while the oil is still in use helps to protect the essential additives and chemicals of the oil. An engine oil which is free from harmful contaminants and has its useful additives over the minimum prescribed limit can be used for a very long time.

KLAROL - Unique features:

It is a By pass system with no moving parts. It can be easily installed on any engine without causing any alteration to the engine.

Engine oil pressure is utilized to supply oil to the bottom of this purifier. This pressure further helps the oil to travel all the way through it. The oil then goes back to the engine by its own gravity.

It can take out solid contaminants till one micron in its cellulose filter cartridge, which is the first stage of filtration. This filter cartridge is replaceable and has to be changed after a certain number of miles or hours. KLAROL filter cartridge can be recycled. It does not cause pollution.

It can also take out liquid contaminants like water and lower fractions of fuel in its evaporation chamber. This purification of engine oil in the engine itself helps to increase its life by more than ten times.

Technical Feasibility:

Lubrication experts agree that oil does not wear out or break down, it can be used indefinitely as long as it is kept clean. Unfortunately the engine's normal full flow oil filter or by pass oil filters have their limitations in removing the contaminants which mix in the oil while it is in use. This results in the necessity of interval oil changes.

KLAROL cleans oil in two stages using three different methods.

In the first stage oil enters the KLAROL depth filter to be cleaned by Absorbtion. All solid contaminants upto five microns are removed in this stage. The oil then passes at a controlled flow rate into the KLAROL evaporation chamber which is heated to ensure a dry airspace. Controlling the flow of oil through KLAROL ensures formation of thin oil film in the evaporation chamber. These conditions are ideal to evaporate moisture, lower oxidized molecules of oil, air & gases from the oil. Purified oil then goes back into the parent tank.

The KLAROL depth filter also removes insoluble contamination like sludge, varnish, and particles smaller than a micron by Adsorption i.e. (attracting and trapping the contamination in its filtering medium) when oil is continuously cycled through KLAROL.

Five Years ago

The Loco and Loco Crane department of Tata Steel Ltd, Jamshedpur India used to change engine oil after every 300 hours and the engines were down for major overhauling after every 15,000 hours.

Oil consumption was almost 100 Barrels every month.

Today

They are changing engine oil after more than 3,600 hours in all their NT-855 and KT-1050 Cummins engines or similar ones of other makes. Oil consumption has dropped down to 24 Barrels a month. Some engines were brought for major overhauling after more than 20,000 working hours and the mechanics declared that the camshaft, crankshaft and bearings were as good as new and needed no replacement.
